I was prescribed the decompression therapy in the last months of my pregnancy in Johannesburg in 1971 by my gynaecologist, Dr Safro. I gave birth to a daughter who proved to be a high achiever in most fields of life including sport and academics. She was awarded a Doctorate degree at Cambridge University in 2006.
I hope you will read this to the end and let me know if your connections can further my understanding of tjis atoeu/anecdote which I believe may have been a UK TV Documentary likely NBC2 or the VWRY VWRY eary years of Channel 4 as I am RESONABLY CERTAIN it was c. 1980 +/- 5 years maximum.
I t has always fascinatef me. A 3 year old (white – it was Apartheid) South African boy. APPARENTLY single+ handedly DISMANTLED a WHOLE CAR. I can not remember if he was supposed to have put it back together again. That WOULD have been something!
By this time I BELIEVE TV programmes were RECORDED and HOPEFULLY KEPT rather than live transmissions being permanently lost. So I would advocate expliring media footage , in ANY ENGLISH speaking country. There may be more similar stories available. The boy would MOST LIKELY .have bern born during the 1970s.
To me, improved brain develooment due to reducef pressure makes sence. Althought 30m in 24 hours seems relatively minimal.This boy obviously had way beond average abilities. You could try contacting INTERNATIONAL MENSA ( I am a UK member with a major interest in Cognitive Development, Individual Differences (Personality and IQ) amd abmormal Psychology ( Mental Illness and Learning Disabiliries).
You could join yourself or find a member to put your enquiry in the Members’ Forum online in South Africa or further afield. . Sadly, since Covid SIGs ( Special Interest Groups ) have seriously declined in UK Mensa, . but Psychology and I believe Medecine still have supporters in the UK.
